Windows Phone

Windows Phone is a discontinued family of mobile operating systems developed by Microsoft for smartphones as the replacement successor to Windows Mobile and Zune. Windows Phone featured a new user interface derived from Metro design language. Unlike Windows Mobile, it was primarily aimed at the consumer market rather than the enterprise market. It was first launched in October 2010 with Windows Phone 7. Windows Phone 8 succeeded it in 2012, replacing the Windows CE-based kernel of Windows Phone 7 with the Windows NT kernel used by the PC versions of Windows. Due to these changes, the OS was incompatible with all existing Windows Phone 7 devices, although it still supported apps originally developed for Windows Phone 7. In 2014, Microsoft released the Windows Phone 8.1 update, which introduced the Cortana virtual assistant, and Windows Runtime platform support to create cross-platform apps between Windows PCs and Windows Phone. In 2015, Microsoft released Windows 10 Mobile, which promoted increased integration and unification with its PC counterpart, including the ability to connect devices to an external display or docking station to display a PC-like interface. Although Microsoft dropped the Windows Phone brand at this time in order to focus more on synergies with Windows 10 for PCs, it was still a continuation of the Windows Phone line from a technical standpoint, and updates were issued for selected Windows Phone 8.1 devices. While Microsofts investments in the platform were headlined by a major partnership with Nokia and Microsofts eventual acquisition of the companys mobile device business for just over US$7 billion which included Nokias then-CEO Stephen Elop joining Microsoft to lead its in-house mobile division, the duopoly of Android and iPhone remained the dominant platforms for smartphones, and interest in Windows Phone from app developers began to diminish by mid-decade. Microsoft laid off the Microsoft Mobile staff in 2016, after having taken a write-off of $7.6 billion on the acquired Nokia hardware assets. Microsoft began to prioritize software development and integrations with Android and iOS instead, and ceased active development of Windows 10 Mobile in 2017. In 2020 Emperion teased a Windows phone that runs Windows 10 on ARM via Twitter. However Windows ARM cannot make phone calls but can run Android apps without switching OS or using an emulator.

Hypertropha thesaurella

Hypertropha thesaurella is a moth in the family Depressariidae. It was described by Edward Meyrick in 1880. It is found in Australia, where it has been recorded from Queensland and New South Wales. The wingspan is 19–20 mm. The forewings are black, the basal half almost entirely occupied by four transverse, rather outwardly curved, almost confluent faint ochreous-whitish bands, composed of numerous very fine transverse strigulae, these bands being very obscurely separated by slender black lines, only distinct as black spots on the costa, where also the pale bands are usually more distinct. There is a small ochreous-whitish spot on the costa in the middle, giving rise to an indistinct orange-ochreous transverse line marking off the basal half, and itself immediately followed by a metallic bluish-purple line of raised scales. Immediately preceding the ochreous line are three small metallic bluish-purple raised spots, one on the inner margin, one above and one below the middle. At about one-third from the base is a transverse metallic blue raised line from the middle of the disc perpendicularly to the inner margin, interrupted on the fold. There is an outwardly curved metallic blue-purple line from three-fourths of the costa to the anal angle, the lower half interrupted to form three spots near and parallel to the hind margin. The lower two-thirds of the space between this and the central line is strewn with ochreous-whitish scales, especially towards the inner margin. Beyond this line is a white outwardly oblique spot on the costa, emitting a faint band of transverse whitish strigulae along the hind margin to the anal angle, leaving three elongate black spots on the lower part of the hind margin. Beyond this band is an outwardly oblique orange-ochreous subapical spot from the costa. The hindwings are deep yellow, with a broad black margin.

Macteola theskela

The length of the shell attains 7.5 mm, its diameter 3 mm. Original description The inner or columellar margin of the lip possesses seven or eight close and minute plicae. There is also one minute process at the parietal sinus. It is of a graceful attenuate fusiform shell, six-whorled, or perhaps seven, but the apex is broken off in the only specimen we have. It shows longitudinal ribs crossed by many lirae. The aperture is oblong. The pure whiteness of the shell is relieved by a row of brown spots between the ribs just above the sutures and in the middle of the body whorl.

Anacithara themeropis

Original description The length of the ventricose shell attains 5 mm, its diameter 2 mm. Two forms have been seen by us, differing in colour as follows: - In what would be considered the type, an ashy brown is the prevailing hue, filleted round the whorls transversely with bluish white. In the other, a handsomer variety, a warm ochre with flecking and median brown linear banding round the three last whorls, which are seven in number altogether. The form of the shell is oblong. It is very solid, obtusely ribbed with fine spiral striae. The outer lip is extremely thickened. The inner lip is simple. The aperture is ovate. The columella is simple.

Mangelia theskeloides

The length of the shell attains 8 mm, its diameter 4 mm. Original description The fusiform, somewhat solid shell becomes attenuate towards the apex. It contains seven whorls. The whorls of the protoconch are imperfect in all the examples examined. They are tinged with blackish brown. The subsequent whorls are turreted, tumid and brightly ochraceous. They are ornamented with strong longitudinal ribs, which number eleven on the body whorl. These are crossed by spiral close striae, which are not shown on elder worn specimens. The most conspicuous feature is a series of darker blackish-brown zones.one just above the suture of each whorl and another in the centre of the lowest. These zones are interrupted and only appear between the ribs, the remainder of the surface being painted with light brown scattered dots and flames, a series of light spiral maculations just below the sutures being specially prominent. The aperture is narrow, oblong, the dark zone shows transversely across the interior. The outer lip is incrassate, sinus very obscure. The columella is straight and stained with brown at the base.

Cryptophasa themerodes

Cryptophasa themerodes is a moth in the family Xyloryctidae. It was described by Turner in 1904. It is found in Australia, where it has been recorded from Queensland. The wingspan is about 35 mm. The forewings are whitish, intimately mixed with grey, and with some dark fuscous scales. The discal dots are scantily represented by dark fuscous scales, the first at one-third, the second beyond the middle and the third on the fold obliquely beyond the first. There are several dark fuscous dots near the termen. The hindwings are whitish, towards the termen suffused with pale fuscous.

Compsodrillia thestia

The length of the shell attains 14 mm, its diameter 5 mm. Original description The slender, acute shell is strongly sculptured, with pale brownish clouding on a yellowish white ground. The protoconch is smooth, inflated, and consists of 1½ whorl, followed by about eight sculptured whorls. The suture is distinct, undulated, strongly appressed, thick-edged, with a strong cord immediately behind the strongly constricted smooth anal fasciole. Other spiral sculpture consists of on the spire one or two strong peripheral cords, swollen and almost angulated where they override the ribs. On the body whorl there are six or seven cords with much wider interspaces and as many more smaller close-set threads on the siphonal canal. The axial sculpture consists of seven or eight very prominent short ribs on the penultimate whorl; fading out on the body whorl, and rather prominent widely spaced incremental lines most conspicuous on the body whorl. The aperture is subovate. The anal sulcus is conspicuous, rounded, with a marked subsutural callus. The outer lip is thin, moderately arcuate, not varicose. The inner lip shows a coat of enamel with the anterior edge raised. The columella is short, straight. The siphonal canal is hardly differentiated from the aperture.

Theseis

Theseis was a third-person action-adventure video game developed by Greek indie development team Track7 Games. Development began in 2004, and the game was planned for release on the Xbox 360 and PC in early 2008. The game would be set in modern-day Athens and star a duo of paranormal investigators caught between mundane and supernatural worlds. The game would have featured a cast of characters from Greek mythology, while the plot would have players follow clues in search of a long-lost ancient artifact that could spell disaster for the entire human race. Despite garnering a lot of interest by both local and international media, Theseis languished in development hell for almost half a decade, before being unceremoniously cancelled in August 2009 due to a shortage in funds.
